Current Role

As Rehmann’s COO, Stephen is responsible for firm operations and oversees all service line departments, information technology, finance, and innovation and change management. Building on Rehmann’s entrepreneurial spirit, Stephen supports the firm to accelerate the goals of our clients and associates.

Experience

Stephen began his career at Rehmann in 1995 and has held various leadership roles in Rehmann’s assurance and solutions departments, as well as serving on the firm’s board of directors. During his tenure, he has focused his client-facing efforts on the public sector, serving as an auditor, consultant and contracted CFO for a wide array of government and not-for-profit entities. Stephen served as the firm’s director of government audit quality from 2011-2022 and became COO in 2023.

• Stephen’s technical expertise has qualified him to hold highly regarded roles in the industry, such as long-time advisor to the GFOA’s Standing Committee on Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting, and the AICPA’s State and Local Government Expert Panel and Government Audit Quality Center Executive Committee.
