Michael Wilks, CPA, MSA

Current Role

Michael’s primary focus is on assurance services, specifically for the private equity, venture capital, manufacturing and service industries, and other for-profit clients. Michael also works with a number of higher education and not-for-profit entities. Acting as the main point of contact during audit fieldwork, Michael is able to identify and create testing approaches in order to substantiate that the client is appropriately mitigating risk. Michael has additionally assisted in the process of implementing new accounting standards including revenue recognition updates (ASC 606) and lease recognition updates (ASU 842).

Experience

Since joining Rehmann in 2019, Michael has quickly taken on any project thrown his way. Michael is involved in leading audits and reviews for numerous clients and acts as the main contact and business advisor with a number of private equity, venture capital, manufacturing, service and other for-profit clients.

• By increasing efficiencies, Michael has been able to cut many unnecessary hours from many engagements, saving his clients ample time.
• Michael is involved the implementation of new software within the firm, including an artificial intelligence software to streamline the efficiencies of audits and reviews to ultimately better Rehmann’s client service.
• Michael is focused on expanding his industry knowledge as a member of the AICPA and the MICPA.
• Additionally, Michael stays up to date on private equity industry updates by being an active member of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Western Michigan chapter.
