Rehmann Welcomes Chrissy Walters as Risk Advisory Principal
Rehmann is pleased to announce the addition of Chrissy Walters, CPA, CISA, MBA, as a Risk Advisory Principal to its Ohio practice. Her addition reflects Rehmann’s ongoing commitment to strengthening regional client support and expanding its footprint in Ohio.
Walters brings more than 20 years of experience spanning both public accounting and private industry. Her background combines co-sourced client advisory work with executive internal audit leadership. Most recently, she served as Internal Audit Director at American Greetings, where she led corporate audit initiatives, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, risk assessments, and direct assistance testing alongside external auditors, EY, to complete the annual audits.
Walters’ extensive career in risk advisory includes founding and leading an Internal Audit Department at a regional accounting firm, where she managed co-sourced internal audit engagements, and process improvement and risk management projects for middle-market and Fortune 500 companies alike. She then joined the Risk Advisory department to serve as the technical reviewer for all System and Organization Controls (SOC) reports.
“Having spent my career working with organizations across Cleveland, I’m thrilled to join a firm that shares my passion for serving this community,” said Walters. “Rehmann is forward-thinking in how it evolves alongside client needs, and I look forward to helping organizations of all sizes strengthen their risk management and internal audit foundation.”
Walters offers a combined focus on financial and IT controls, holding credentials as both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Her addition reinforces Rehmann’s ability to deliver specialized risk advisory, internal audit, and process improvement solutions to businesses navigating rapidly evolving operational environments throughout Ohio.
“Adding a well-respected professional like Chrissy to our team reflects our commitment to expanding Rehmann’s risk advisory capabilities across Ohio,” said Stacie Kwaiser, Rehmann CEO. “Her depth of expertise in financial and IT compliance will be an incredible asset as we help our clients navigate an increasingly dynamic business environment.”
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Walters actively serves on the Accounting Advisory Group at Miami University, bridging the gap between industry practice and higher education. Through biannual meetings with business school leadership, faculty and students, she offers industry insights on evolving accounting trends to inform curriculum development and help prepare and mentor future financial leaders.
