Affordable Care Act Transparency in Coverage: Machine-Readable Files

As of 7/1/22, healthcare plans are required to post machine-readable files on a public website covering network rates and non-network allowable amounts.

There are three separate machine-readable files required:

  • Information regarding in-network rates for covered items and services
  • Out-of-network allowed amounts and billed charges for covered items and services
  • Negotiated rates and historical net prices for covered prescription drugs (Rx requirement delayed indefinitely)

Below is a URL link that includes the required information. Please be aware that these files are large and require a computer that can download at least 1TB (terabyte) of data. Most modern hard drives are only able to download and store half of this amount of data. Attempting to open or download large files may cause instabilities in Windows, and performance issues resulting in downloads that could take hours, days or weeks depending on file size and hard drive combination.
