2025 Rehmann Foundation Grant Recipients

To celebrate The Rehmann Foundation, we’ll highlight the organizations who received the Foundation’s 2025 set of grants. Read more below to learn about each group and the impact the funds will have on them and their communities.

Women’s Resource Center for the Grand Traverse Area

The Women’s Resource Center for the Grand Traverse Area has provided vital services for women and children facing domestic violence, sexual assault, and homelessness since 1975. It offers a full continuum of care, including emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, and prevention programs in schools and communities.

The Rehmann Foundation is proud to support the Women’s Resource Center, funding 200 nights of shelter for survivors and their children over the next year. This support also helps survivors achieve financial independence through job training, financial literacy programs, housing assistance, and access to basic needs. With our support, they help build stability, reduce barriers, and foster long-term self-sufficiency, creating a foundation for brighter futures.

Cass Community Social Services, Inc.

Cass Community Social Services, based in Detroit, addresses poverty through innovative programs focusing on housing, food security, health services, and job creation. Their Green Industries initiative includes the One Cup Car Wash, providing essential employment opportunities for individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This program teaches valuable workforce readiness skills like time management, teamwork, social interaction, and communication, which is crucial given that 80% of individuals with IDD are unemployed.

We are proud to support Cass Community Social Services by funding initial wages and on-the-job training for these employees. This sustainable employment model empowers individuals with meaningful opportunities, helping them develop practical skills and actively participate in the workforce. This initiative perfectly demonstrates Cass Community Social Services’ dedication to reducing barriers, fostering inclusion, and building a brighter future for their community.

FOCUS North America

FOCUS North America’s mission is to break cycles of poverty while preserving the dignity of those they serve by feeding the hungry, offering job training, and supporting families in need. The Rehmann Foundation couldn’t be happier to support FOCUS North America and their inspiring program, “The Nest,” in Detroit.

Through essential material aid, mentoring, skill-building opportunities, and connections to educational resources, The Nest provides immediate relief and long-term empowerment. Within its first year, the program will establish an Essential Needs Closet and support over 300 individuals, aiming to reduce isolation and improve access to vital resources. By meeting basic needs and fostering sustainable community development, FOCUS North America is making a meaningful difference in the lives of Detroit-area families, creating opportunities for brighter futures.

Kids On The GO

We are honored to support Kids On The GO, a not-for-profit who is focused on enriching the lives of children with special needs. For over two decades, their physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs have fostered vital skill development and inclusion in a supportive, camp-like environment. Kids On The GO ensures financial constraints never hinder access through generous scholarships and dedicated volunteers.

Their Teens To Work program equips teens with disabilities with independent living and job readiness skills, opening doors to future opportunities. Support from the Rehmann Foundation will cover the costs of professional staff—including speech, occupational therapists, and therapy aides—who provide specialized support. By empowering teens with practical skills and real-world experiences, the Teens To Work program creates a lasting, positive impact, and we are proud to support their work.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Archdiocese of Detroit – Camp Ozanam

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit is one of the region’s largest charitable outreach organizations, committed to serving Detroit and its surrounding communities. They provide vital resources through extensive programs including food pantries, clothing, housing assistance, and children’s camp initiatives.

The Rehmann Foundation will support Camp Ozanam, a summer camp specifically designed for underserved children facing poverty, homelessness, or trauma. The camp fosters emotional growth, mental health, and overall well-being in a nurturing environment. Our support will help cover rising operational expenses like meals, transportation, supplies, and staffing, ensuring the camp remains accessible at no cost to low-income families.

Michigan Center for 21st Century Teaching & Learning

We are proud to support the Michigan Center for 21st Century Teaching & Learning, a not-for-profit supporting educators and students. The Center provides evidence-based teacher training on literacy and learning differences (like dyslexia) and implements early intervention programs.

Support from the Rehmann Foundation will aid their IM Kids 3rd Meal program, a trauma-informed initiative combating food insecurity for elementary students in Ionia and Montcalm counties in Michigan. This program provides healthy, ready-to-eat evening meals, ensuring no child goes to bed hungry. Our grant will help sustain and expand this vital program, filling critical nutrition gaps on weekdays, weekends, and school breaks, thus supporting children’s physical health, learning, and overall well-being.

MyPlace, Inc.

The Rehmann Foundation is proud to support MyPlace, Inc., an organization that provides stable housing and life-skills programming for young adults transitioning out of foster care or facing homelessness. MyPlace serves the often-overlooked 18–24 age group, offering safe housing, mentorship, career readiness, and education support.

With a grant from the Rehmann Foundation, MyPlace will expand its services to support youth ages 16–21 aging out of foster care or experiencing homelessness. The funding will provide life skills training, mental health support, trauma-informed care, and access to education and job resources. By reducing vulnerabilities like the risk of human trafficking and promoting stability, this program aligns with the Foundation’s goals of improving education, economic opportunity, and community well-being.

Upcycle Bikes

Upcycle Bikes is an organization that refurbishes donated or discarded bicycles into low-cost or free transportation for those in need. By addressing mobility challenges, Upcycle improves access to employment, education, and healthcare for underserved communities. Its volunteer-powered repair model fosters community involvement while promoting environmental sustainability by keeping bikes out of landfills. Partnering with over 50 agencies, Upcycle extends its reach to help individuals overcome transportation barriers.

With support from the Rehmann Foundation, Upcycle will expand operations, volunteer training, and outreach to meet growing demand. The grant will also provide 300 recipients with safety backpacks, including helmets, locks, lights, and safety guides, ensuring secure and confident travel. Together, Upcycle Bikes and the Rehmann Foundation are driving meaningful change, one bike at a time.

NAMI Greater Orlando, Inc.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Greater Orlando provides vital education, advocacy, and peer-led support to individuals and families facing mental health challenges. As the regional NAMI chapter, its unique peer-led model builds trust through lived experience. Programs like Family-to-Family and Peer-to-Peer, alongside strong advocacy, boost mental health awareness and drive systemic change.

With support from the Rehmann Foundation, NAMI Greater Orlando will expand its Wraparound Services Program, enhancing trauma-informed mental health education, support groups, and early intervention programs in Central Florida. The funds will also help train peer specialists and deliver NAMI Signature Programs to underserved communities.

Leadership Toledo

Leadership Toledo develops civic-minded leaders through youth and adult programs, promoting community engagement and volunteerism. By connecting generations, it empowers high school students through Youth Leadership Toledo and professionals in its adult programs, equipping them to make meaningful contributions and drive community growth.

With support from the Rehmann Foundation, Leadership Toledo will enhance its Youth Leadership Toledo retreat, offering high school students key leadership experiences. The grant will cover lodging, meals, transportation, and team-building activities that foster trust, collaboration, and community awareness. This initiative aligns with the Rehmann Foundation’s commitment to education and empowering future leaders to create lasting impact.

Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan, Inc.

Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan, Inc. serves individuals and families facing homelessness, addiction, and economic hardships in the Mid-Michigan region. Through its City Rescue Mission of Saginaw and Good Samaritan Rescue Mission in Bay City, the organization provides emergency relief while focusing on long-term recovery and workforce readiness programs to help individuals rebuild their lives.

With support from the Rehmann Foundation, Rescue Ministries will expand its impactful work through the Higher Purpose Initiative. The grant will fund essential services, including emergency housing, meals, job readiness programs, and faith-based recovery services to promote long-term well-being. It will also enable neighborhood revitalization efforts, such as blight removal and home repairs, while fostering life skills development, career fairs, and mentoring opportunities in economically challenged areas of Saginaw.
