Jim is the Principal in charge of the Saginaw office Tax Department. He also serves on Rehmann's Tax Executive Committee and leads our Mid-Michigan ESOP Roundtable.
Jim joined Rehmann in 2001. Previously, Jim was a tax partner and Director of Tax Operations, Southern California, for a regional accounting firm. He has been practicing public accounting continuously since 1974 and spent over 24 years with Ernst & Young, where he focused on serving middle-market companies. Jim has significant experience in a wide range of industries including technology, communications, information, real estate, manufacturing, transportation, agribusiness and hospitality. While in Irvine, CA (1996-2001) Jim specialized in helping fast-growing businesses, including software and technology companies, develop tax and operating strategies, attract capital and enter new markets. In addition, Jim has worked with several Japanese-owned companies.
Jim has served numerous private and public companies in formulating sound, innovative tax strategies in connection with organizational structures, mergers, acquisitions, executive compensation and employee benefits. He has also counseled business owners and executives in taking full advantage of tax planning opportunities to increase the return on their wealth. Jim has many years of experience in guiding company succession planning through the use of employee stock ownership plans.
